Reem Al Thani graduated from RISD in 2015 with a Masters in Design (MDes) in Adaptive Reuse Interior Architecture and a double major in Interior Design and Fashion Design from VCUQatar in 2010.
Reem is a multidisciplinary designer who works on the activation of space through a human approach to design. Her thesis explores how socio-cultural integration methods can influence architecture, using the water tower built form as a catalyst for connection in fragmented cities or communities.
Through her studies at RISD, she became fascinated by generative design, which came from the studies of crystal formations, a seemingly natural process that is very mathematical using algorithms. This allowed the development of a simple algorithm that doesn’t depend on a preliminary shape and can be applied to any mapping or parameter to create a different formation.
She is now the Acting Deputy Ceo Of Exhibitions and Marketing and The Director of Exhibitions at Qatar Museums. She is responsible for designing and producing all temporary and permanent exhibitions for all affiliated museums and exhibition venues locally and internationally.
