Raed Abudawoud, PhD

Raed Abudawoud, Ph.D is an accomplished chemical engineer and business leader with over two decades of experience in the energy industry. As a holder of 47 patents, he is widely recognized as a pioneer in the field, having made significant contributions to the development of new technologies and processes, particularly in the area of catalysis.
Currently serving as a Chief Technologist of the Catalyst Center of Excellence at Saudi Aramco, Raed has been instrumental in driving growth and innovation, leveraging his expertise in strategy, capability building, business & technology development, talent & human capital growth, and operations. He played a crucial role in driving the integration of research and technology between SABIC and Saudi Aramco during the historic acquisition of a 70% stake in SABIC by Saudi Aramco, which resulted in him receiving the Saudi Aramco President & CEO's Excellence Award for the year 2020.
Raed was recently recognized by the British Council, Saudi Arabia as a finalist in the UK Study Alumni Awards 2022-2023 in the category of Business and Innovation. This recognition highlights his significant contributions to the industry and his innovative approaches to problem-solving. Prior to that, he was featured among 'Movers & Shakers' in The Catalysis Review in 2019 for his numerous contributions and impact in catalyst R&D.
Raed earned a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering & Analytical Science from The University of Manchester, UK in 2011, and he has been instrumental in his contributions to the development of novel, sustainable energy & chemicals technologies ever since.
