Naguib Sawiris

Executive Chairman, Orascom Telecom Media & Technology Holding

Mr. Naguib Sawiris founded Orascom Telecom Holding (OTH) and led it to become the leading regional telecom player until the much-publicized merger deal with Vimpelcom Ltd, creating the world’s sixth largest mobile telecommunications provider in April 2011. 

 

Mr. Sawiris is Chairman of the Advisory Board of La Mancha Holding, an international gold producer sitting on the board of Evolution Mining, the second largest gold producer in Australia, and Endeavour Mining, Africa’s third largest gold producer. Mr. Sawiris is also Chairman of Gemini Development, a company undertaking high-end real estate developments in various prime locations around the world.

 

Mr. Sawiris is also the recipient of numerous honorary degrees, industry awards and civic honors, including the “Legion d’Honneur“ (the highest award given by the French Republic for outstanding services rendered to France). In July 2011 Mr. Sawiris was awarded the Honor of Commander of the Order of the “Stella della Solidarietà Italiana” (Star of Italian Solidarity). In 2006, the prestigious “Sitara-e-Quaid-e-Azam” award was conferred upon him by General Pervez Musharref for services rendered to the people of Pakistan in the field of telecommunication, investments and social sector work.

Najla Al Midfa

General Manager, Sheraa - Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center

Najla Al-Midfa is General Manager of Sheraa - Sharjah Entrepreneurship Center - a government entity that aims to inspire the next generation of entrepreneurs and provide them with a launchpad for success. She is also Founder of Khayarat, a platform that enables young Emiratis to make informed career choices.  

 

In her previous role, as Senior Manager at Khalifa Fund for Enterprise Development, Najla led a team of business counselors through the due diligence process of selecting ventures for financing.   Prior to joining Khalifa Fund, Najla was a senior associate at McKinsey and Company‘s New York office. Her experience also includes roles within PricewaterhouseCoopers and Shell.

 

Najla is a board member of United Arab Bank, and Vice-Chairperson of Young Arab Leaders. She holds an MBA from Stanford University, and is a fellow of the Aspen Institute’s Middle East Leadership Initiative

Joe Saddi

Partner, Strategy& Middle East

Joe Saddi is a Partner with over 25 years of consulting experience in strategic, organizational, and restructuring services.

 

Over the years, he ‎has led major privatization programs in such sectors as oil and gas, mining, steel and electricity; advised Middle East governments on sector ‎deregulation and sector policy; and led the reorganization of national oil companies and large corporations. He also works closely with large family-owned ‎companies to help design governance and portfolio strategies.

 

Mr. Saddi holds an MBA from Cornell University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from ESSEC in France.
